Drunkards Medallion-Along

Happy Tuesday, y'all!

It's totally appropriate that I start off my post with a "y'all" since this Drunkards Medallion-Along is a shoot off from Sew South.  Some of my sewing neighbors at the retreat in March and I had so much fun that we wanted to continue sewing together.  After oohing and ahhing over the Liberty medallion quilts that were popping up all over we thought it would be fun to each make a center block and pass them around for borders.

Well, I finally decided what to make for my center block and here it is ...

What do you think?  I am really all over the aqua, mustard, pink, white, grey, black, and leaf green combination right now.  I'm calling it "modern shabby chic" for now.

I did have a total "oh crap" moment while making this and using the very last bit of the green dot that I had.  I made a cutting error and then had to piece a block together in a make-shifty way.  If you follow me on IG, you probably saw my "measure twice, cut once" picture.  LOL  You can see the seam in the green of the top center block.  I was pretty irritated with myself, but I decided to let it go and will enjoy it later as a reminder that perfection isn't always required for pretty.

I actually thought about making this a bonus block pattern in the Hop, Skip, & Jump BOM, but its a bit more complicated than the others and didn't want to scare anyone before we actually get started!!  But if y'all are interested, I'll be glad to work up a tutorial for the blog.

Hope y'all are having a super day so far!

Happy Sewing! :-)
