Hi there! I am excited to share the first "Get Organized" post with you today. In this post, I am going to show you how I organize my big collection of threads. I used to make Greek letter shirts for my sorority, so I collected many colors to match all the fabrics I used for the letters. Awhile back I picked up a plastic shoe organizer from the local big box store and hung it on the back of the closet door in my sewing room. (I usually keep the door open, but I can hide all the thread and notions just by closing the closet door.)
At the top, I have some notions and assorted supplies (including one pocket full of little scraps I should clean out).
Then I have all my threads sorted by color.
I've really enjoyed using this as a convenient storage solution. I can easily see what I have or if I am getting low on something (usually white thread!).
Of course, if you don't have as many threads as I do, you could use this method to organized notions, scissors, scrap strips of fabric, etc.
How do you store your threads? Don't forget that this month's Stitch & Share Challenge theme is organization. I hope you'll share with us!
Happy Sewing! :-)
Well, here's my post on how I organize my thread. =)

Love your idea...I'd just make a mess having to dig for the color I want. =)
That IS a lot of thread! I don't have a door that I could use, but I like the idea that your organizer is clear to see better!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea, they look dust free and organized. Thanks for sharing I must take note!
