Hello all! Another weekend is coming to a close and I hope it has been an enjoyable one for you all! We thought we'd do a little FQ bundle giveaway here on the blog. Here's a look the prize that is up for grabs ...
These Punctuation prints are really fun. As a teacher, I think the Alphabet ones are great for making a favorite teacher something sweet. Maybe a mug rug, a list taker, key fob, lanyard, or pencil case. Or how about a bunting? :-)
To enter the giveaway, just leave us a comment on this post sharing who taught you to sew. (If you are a self-taught sewist/quilter, you can share who your favorite teacher was.) Please enter your comment by 11:59 PM on Wednesday, 5/4/11, and we'll post the winner here on Thursday!
The next edition of the newsletter will come out later this week - we'd love you to sign up using the link on the left!
Happy Sewing!
my grandma - thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy mom taught me how to thread the machine and the most basic basics. Otherwise I'm self-taught, with a lot of help from a great Reader's Digest Encyclopedia of Sewing or some such similar title! Great book! :) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy mom and my middle school Home Ec. teacher taught me how to sew. And I remember very little from either so I rely heavily on the internet, the library and my Mother-in-Law when I get stuck.
ReplyDeleteMy mother and I also took Home Ec. in junior high school - too long ago to remember my teacher's name. Thanks for a chance.
ReplyDeleteI learned to sew in my 9th grade Clothing class. I sewed my finger right into a cardigan I was making LOL. My teacher's name was Miss Johnson - she was kinda odd, but I learned a lot.
ReplyDeleteCompletely self taught, using books when I was younger and through trial and error (mostly error to start with). The same with quilting I just decided one day last year I wanted to give it a go.... I have learned from the Internet and books and now I am learning from blogs and bloggy friends, and it's still trial and error!!
ReplyDeleteMy mother. But I think I tried to sew on my own even before she 'officially' taught me ;D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance :D
I was taught by a teacher at my primary school - Mrs Ellis!
ReplyDeleteI still have the orange gingham check apron that we embellished with embroidery stitches in school but it was so long ago that I don't remember who taught me! My grandma, mum and school all taught me some basics but I'm refreshing my memory now I've come back to sewing by using books and the internet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cute giveaway!
started sewing Barbie doll clothes with my grandma, but am mostly self-taught

Great giveaway! My mom is the one who taught me to sew. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway. My childhood sewing teachers were my mother and the 4-H extension agent. I taught school, as did my mother, so like the punctuation set. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI am self taught..but remember my grandma sewing and quilting. I am very lucky to have one of the last quilts she ever made. This has inspired me to quilt.
ReplyDeleteI learned to sew from my mother on her old Singer. I do have my grandmothers old tupperware notions box. Very dear to me. gougeonathome@charter.net (Allison)
ReplyDeleteMy mother taught me to sew, I think I was 11 years old. I helped make a skirt/jumper to wear to school. She did the zipper...and I have always steered away from zippers...but I'm glad she took the time to teach me. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for a lovely giveaway!
My mom taught me the sewing machine and my grandma taught me to do buttons and to piece quilt blocks.
ReplyDeleteMy Home Ec teacher taught me to sew when I was about 15 years old. I started out making garments, but now I sew quilts. I am very thankful for the skills my HE teacher taught me. She was a wonderful teacher and wonderful lady.
ReplyDeleteI am a self-taught stitcher. But my favorite teacher, I don't even know. All that come to mind are male and taught a social studies class. However, the last choral instructor I worked with was brilliant. Grumpy, but brilliant.
ReplyDeleteSince I am a self-taught teacher I will share who my favorite teacher is...Mrs Estep (second grade). After a great number of years I moved back to the town she lives in and now I see her all the time (she is quite elderly). She always brings a smile to my face (due to memories and because she still hugs me and remembers me after all these years).
ReplyDeleteMy mom taught me how to sew. I signed up for sewing every year in 4-H. She is a teacher as well.
