I love Granny blocks. They are so fun and can look so different depending on the prints you choose. I especially love that
mini charm packs make it so easy to just get started.
I was playing around a few weeks ago for a mini quilt kit sample and I got all the way to the point of adding borders when I realized Granny had gone wrong ...
Yup ... I managed to flip two of the squares when I was stitching my rows together. But at this point, I wasn't about to take it all apart! I did manage to salvage it for a slightly different version of the project and will share about that soon. :-)
Anyone else ever get to the point of no return when you finally realized the mistake?
Happy Sewing! :-)
I just finished off a sampler quilt with words from a panel around the center medallion. Handed it to the quilter and realized the words faced out on some sides, in on the others. Oh well, there was no way that was coming apart again!
ReplyDeleteSometimes...there have been many instances where I will actually go through the pains of taking it apart...just depends on what it's for and if I really want to care. Other times, I will let it go.
ReplyDeleteWhat? Me make mistakes? Giggle...you are not alone!
ReplyDeleteOh, we all make mistakes- its all part of the learning process! Often they are only obvious to the maker so don't let it stress you too much!
ReplyDeleteOh frustrating! But to be honest, I probably wouldn't have noticed the flipped squares when first looking at your lovely block!
ReplyDeleteI am in the process of unpicking and re-sewing a section of a wallhanging where I reversed the colours :( Just glad I caught it before I reached the finished stage!
Don't you hate it when that happens.
ReplyDeleteThe granny square looks beautiful - I would not have even noticed if you hadn't pointed it out!
ReplyDeleteMore often than I would like to admit! Its still a beautiful block. Even though you have it circled it took me a minute to see what the problem was :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I do this kind of thing all the time! But really I wouldn't have noticed unless you pointed it out. It's a beautiful block btw!
ReplyDeleteYep! I somehow managed to miss that one of my blocks was an 1/8" off from all the rest, and I didn't notice it until I started quilting!! Fortunately, it's just the one and I doubt many will notice. But I think most quilts, even those for sell, are not 100% perfect. It's handmade and will be loved. I hope at least!! :)
ReplyDeleteusually only after I have finished the quilt and I am admiring it. lol...being a lefty has it pits and privleges!!
ReplyDeleteI did the 2013 bom, tried to follow a righty teacher precisely only to realize when I was finished you could view from the wrong and get exactly what was wanted! just love being lefty! ohwell, I will get over it, wil you??
