Ready ... Set ... Stitch!

Hi!  We've enjoyed reading your comments about our "coming soon" products and about the things you'd like to see from us at Sew Lux.  Remember that today is the last day to share your comments and be entered into a drawing for a little prize. Tomorrow, we'll post a winner here on the blog. :-)

Today, I am excited to share our first stitch along project.  Many of you have said you need some smaller projects ... and I know how that is!  They take less time and fewer materials and let's face it ... it's nice to finish up a project quick.  (I don't know about you, but I have a lot of WIPs, UFOs, and stacks of fabrics that have been looking at me from the shelf for quite some time!  :-)

So are you ready?!  For this first stitch along, we're going to make a small pinwheel quilt.  It's a beginner-friendly quilt and it would be great for a new little person or to hang on the wall.  If you are new to quilting, this will be a great project.  If you're a seasoned veteran, we'll this will be an easy breezy project! :-) So, I want you to check out your stash and get some supplies ready!

Here's what you'll need to get started ...

• Six fat quarters (OR a layer cake or large scraps - you'll need 15 or 16 - 10" squares) for the quilt top
• One yard for the backing
• Half a yard for the binding

EDITED TO ADD:  I know many of you are probably hoarding some charm packs ... I will also share directions for using a charm pack for this  project.  The dimensions will be a little different and your quilt slightly more scrappy than if you use 6 FQ, but we'll make this an equal opportunity stitch/quilt along!  So, whether you have a stack of FQ, a charm pack or layer cake, come on over and join us!  :-)

Introducing ...

Happy Friday!  We're excited to introduce our first Sew Lux pattern and kit combo to you today! 

It seems that mug rugs are all the rage and I've been seeing them all over Flickr and blog land lately.  I made a pattern for one and its called the "Doughnuts Mug Rug."  It measures approximately 7" x 10" and is both beginner friendly AND scrap friendly. Here's what it looks like ...

We've created a Doughnuts Mug Rug Kit, which includes everything you need to create your mug rug.  In each kit, you will receive two coordinating fat quarters (more than enough for one mug rug!), a fat eighth of a coordinating solid, batting, and pattern instructions ... just add the stitches!

Get It While You Can ...

Hi again!  We hope you are having a wonderful week and that you are getting some quality sewing in. :-)

We just wanted to share that we've got a few fabrics that are about at the end of the bolt ... as in 3 yards or less left.  If they are a favorite, you may want to snag 'em while you can. :)

The Latest (and Suggestions Anyone?)

Hi everyone!  We are so excited to tell you that we met with our Moda rep tonight and placed a few orders for some LOVELY fabric that will making its way to our shop shelves in just a few short months.  We had gotten an email with some PDF files of the upcoming collections and both my mom and I were so excited over two lines in particular ...

This one is Sophie by Chez Moi. (I'm already thinking about framing that bunch of flowers in a hexagon block! haha)

And this one is Summer House by Lily Ashbury. 

Aren't they just gorgeous?!  Which one do you like better? We've ordered some precuts and yardage for both ... Summer House is supposed to arrive in July and Sophie is slated for August.  Seems like a long time to wait, huh? :-)

We also loved the pretty florals in the Dogwood Trail Collection.  These fabrics are the newest in Moda's Collections for a Cause and this line supports the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. We've ordered precuts and yardage, which are slated to arrive in July as well.

We also ordered more Bella Solids Snow (a beautiful cream and great match to Kona Snow or Bone) as well as a pretty Essential Dot called "Sunshine" to coordinate with the Tea Garden prints we are already carrying.

We'd love to hear which one(s) of these you are most excited about!  We're also planning to add some patterns to the shop, but we need your help ... what would you like to see most? Patterns for bags?  Patterns for quilts?  Patterns using charms or fat quarters, etc?  Do you have a favorite pattern you'd love to see us carry?  Kits - for bags or quilts or both?
